Still Time to Sign Up for 2012!
May 8, 2012
If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to sign up for the Bushwick CSA for 2012!
If you’ve been keeping up with the latest from the Bushwick Food Co-op, you’ll know the exciting news that the Co-op has moved into a real, store-front space at the Shops at the Loom (#107) on the corner of Flushing and Porter. There are many advantages to the space — a permanent location to store dry goods, refrigeration for dairy and meat, more exposure to new members, a place to hold meetings, etc.
For the CSA, this means two really awesome things: 1) no fighting with setting up the big tent/getting rained on during distribution; 2) extended pick up hours!
Pick-up hours for the 2012 season will be from 2:00-8:00pm and will hopefully better accomodate all of your varied schedules. We will still be asking for 2 volunteer shifts from each member. Pick up begins Wednesday, June 6th!
Additionally, both Food Co-op members and non-members can still join the CSA – Bushwick Food Coop will charge BFC members a $15 admin fee and $10 dollar refundable deposit; non-BFC members will be charged a $25 admin fee and $10 dollar refundable deposit. (These fees have been increased from last year to cover the additional costs of operating out of the new store space.)
For types of shares, pricing, and to sign up, please visit the Garden of Eve website: http://www.gardenofevefarm.com/BushwickBrooklynCSA.htm
(Prices are not listed until you begin the sign up process, but you do not have to commit/you will not be charged until you complete check-out).
Finally, Garden of Eve Farm is having its first farm tour event on Saturday, May 19th. The tour is free for CSA members with an optional farm-to-table buffet lunch for $12 (vegetarian meal available). If people are interested in going, you can head out there on your own or we’re happy to do some organizing of rides, but we just need to RSVP to Eve within the next week or so. Let us know if you want to go!
